Shadow of the Colossus - Soundtrack Album

In 2005, Electronic Gaming Monthly awarded the game's soundtrack album, titled; Shadow of the Colossus: Roar of the Earth, as soundtrack of the year, although they failed to award Shadow of the Colossus with a platinum award; a major oversight in my humble yet biased opinion.

I own this haunting soundtrack and listen to it regularly. It's a joy to listen to and if you're a fan of Team ICO's work your collection isn't complete without it.

Ico - Save Me (remix)

Ico and has some very dream like music, but for some it can be a little too somber. The music helps create the correct mood for the game and is a crucial element to how the game feels whilst playing. It tends to get under your skin and I've found myself humming the tune at times. Perhaps that's just me, but it's a fact that the music in any media is necessary to convey the entire story across.

Fortunately, other artists feel the same way and have provided a remix of one of Ico's melodies.

Shadow for a Requirem

Darren Aronofsky's; Requiem for a Dream is truly one of the most disrurbing movies I have seen in recent memory. The soundtrack to this remarkable film goes a long way to ensuring that the viewer experiences the emotions the on-screen characters endure, and this emotional state is felt every subsequent time the music is heard. If you havn't seen this movie, it is highly recommended.

Shadow of the Colossus Music (live)

This video is the music from SotC played by the Eminence Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra will be performing an event called 'A Night in Fantasia' and tickets are on sale now from Ticketmaster. Hiroaki Yura, founder and director of Eminence Artists said in a press release:

We are really looking forward to presenting A Night in Fantasia 2009 as it's going to be such a huge event, featuring so many wonderful pieces of music, musicians, world class composers and other special guests...

The score of tracks to be performed include AFRIKA, Ace Combat V, Darksiders: Wrath of War, Dragon Age: Origins, Metal Gear Solid, Prince of Persia, Red Alert 3, Shadow of the Colossus and a wide range of anime titles, including Astro Boy (which will hit cinemas in September), Studio Ghibli, Totoro, Laputa, Princess Mononoke, Death Note, Steamboy and many, many more...

I wish I could make it as it's sure to be amazing, but it's a long way from the UK. If you have the chance to attend I would highly recommend it. The concert will be performed at The Sydney Entertainment Centre on 26th September 2009.

The song 'Run' by Snow Patrol suits this video for SotC so well I simply had to post it. I became quite emotional when I first watched it. It was through my experiences with the game that made me feel sad or lonely or even frightened at times and this video managed to tune into that feeling.
